Beyond the track

motorsport, success is rarely defined by speed alone. It is the combination of precision, discipline, resilience, and mental strength that separates exceptional drivers from the rest of the field. Michael Rizoiu represents that mindset. With a driving style that blends calculated control with moments of aggressive performance, he approaches racing as both an art and a science.

recision, Passion, and the Pursuit of Performance

Beyond the track, Michael continues to develop his racing program while building a professional presence within the motorsport community. In this interview, he shares insights into his driving philosophy, race preparation, mindset, and how he views his journey as a driver.

There are plenty of fast drivers out there, but it never once occurred to me that someone is faster than me. Maybe on a given day, sure, but the idea that I can never match another driver doesn’t exist for me. I believe I have no limit, no ceiling of performance.

How would you personally describe your driving style, and what do you believe sets you apart from other drivers on the grid?

My driving starts smooth and precise but at times it morphs into a pretty aggressive style, albeit still very precise and controlled.

There are plenty of fast drivers out there, but it never once occurred to me that someone is faster than me. Maybe on a given day, sure, but the idea that I can never match another driver doesn’t exist for me. I believe I have no limit, no ceiling of performance.

What moments in your driving career do you feel best represent who you are as a driver, both on track and behind the scenes?

I have had moments of intense battles in a race where both the other driver and I were pushing to the absolute limits, neither one giving an inch, but with enormous respect for each other to not make contact, drive dirty, or force the other off the track. It was a fantastic race with so many lead changes between us that the whole paddock gathered along the fence to watch.

Another example was a kart race I did for fun where I started at the back of the pack and was comfortably moving up the field. When I reached the front, a couple of overly aggressive drivers decided to crash into me to stop me from advancing. Despite this happening multiple times, I still managed to get into first place.

Just before the final lap, the second-place driver drove into me so hard that I dropped five positions. I was furious and determined not to let the race end like that. I pushed so hard that I passed one driver per corner until the final corner where I finished second.

Normally I was passing one person per lap, but in that moment the focus and determination were so strong that I was making a pass every corner.

I drive hard and aggressive but always with fair sportsmanship.
